Formula
Run length − gate openings gives net panel length. Round panels up by panel width; start with panels + 1 posts and subtract a shared connected corner.
Plan panels, layout posts, gate posts, and connected corners across multiple fence runs.
A fence line is rarely one perfect rectangle. Enter each straight run, identify gates, and mark connected corners so the common post is not silently counted twice.

A 60 ft run with one 4 ft gate and 8 ft panels needs 7 panels for the covered length, plus its layout posts and two gate posts. Add other runs to see the total.
Confirm the actual panel width, gate kit dimensions, corner connection details, and whether the supplier sells matching posts. Use the post-concrete calculator for a separate concrete estimate.
Defaults are starting points. Replace coverage, density, package yield, spacing, and allowance values with the product or plan you are actually using.
Actual fence requirements depend on design, wind, soil, gates, corners, bracing, and local code. This is not a CAD layout or permit plan.
