How this tile estimate works
Tile purchases need an allowance for cuts and breakage, while carton coverage is the practical unit to buy. The calculator keeps the project area whole rather than reducing it for grout gaps.
Worked example
Measure each floor, wall, or backsplash section, subtract uncovered islands, and use the carton coverage for the purchase count. A separate tile-size count remains useful for layout planning.
Before you buy
Buy from one lot where possible and retain a few spare tiles for future repairs. Confirm the carton coverage, shade, caliber, pattern, and recommended setting materials.
Assumptions
Defaults are starting points. Replace coverage, density, package yield, spacing, and allowance values with the product or plan you are actually using.
Limitations
The tool does not design layout, grout joints, transitions, substrate preparation, waterproofing, or pattern-specific waste.
