How this topsoil estimate works
Topsoil quantity is easiest to trust when each bed or lawn section is measured separately and the finished depth is explicit. The calculator totals those rectangles before adding a settlement allowance.
Worked example
At 1,000 sq ft and 3 inches deep, the base volume is 250 cu ft, or 9.26 yd³. A 10% allowance raises that to 275 cu ft, or about 10.19 yd³.
